Not many people regard this as a seperate city, as mailing address and maps connotate Whittier area (whether it is Whittier or South Whittier) as "Whittier". There are some disputed areas of which could be Whittier or surrounding cities such as Santa Fe Springs or La Mirada. However, most residents regard all of the city north of Telegraph, east of Carmenita, and west of the Leffinwell/Telegraph intersection as Whittier. THe area south of Telegraph and in between Valley View and Candlewood is usually regarded as Whittier when closer to Telegraph, and as La Mirada when close to Imperial.
South Whittier is a U.S. gov't-defined census designated place, so the discussion of whether South Whittier is a community is moot. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
